Wounded Warrior Acupuncture
Holistic Service Rendered for Those Who Serve Our Country
Created by Dr. Andy Rosenfarb, ND, L.Ac. About Wounded Warrior Acupuncture
We acknowledge that most soldiers receive health care at their local VA Hospitals and our treatment is in no way intended as a replacement for medical care. WWA can be used as a complementary therapy or used as a stand-alone treatment for certain mild to moderate conditions. Conventional medicine often has limitations in treating recovery from both physical and mental-emotional trauma. For some, anti-inflammatory pain meds, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety meds, sleeping pills and steroid injections are just not enough to give the kind of relief that our soldiers need. In addition, acupuncture may potentially offer a better solution to pain meds - the lack of side effects including fatigue, dizziness, stomach upset, and allergies that can potentially interfere with a soldier's ability to perform normal activities. Results can often be seen in minutes. How Wounded Warrior Acupuncture WorksAcupuncture is part the ancient system of Oriental Medicine and is over 2000 years old. Oriental Medicine has treated more people than all other medical systems in written history. It a time tested system that works! Acupuncture is arguably the most convenient and cost-effectiveness treatment for pain. Acupuncture has been used to treat various military injuries in countries such as China, Japan, Korea, and France. These countries have confirmed the value of acupuncture an incorporated it into their military medical practices. Acupuncture was formally introduction to America in the early 1970's and has rapidly gained popularity. Acupuncture is currently one of the most sought out alternative therapies in America. Research has provided clear evidence of acupuncture's effectiveness, including the release of enkephalins and endorphins during acupuncture stimulation. MRI testing has shown that acupuncture can activate or suppress of various areas of the brain. An additional advantage acupuncture offers over conventional pain medications is the lack of side effects, such as dizziness, somnolence, cardiac depression, gastrointestinal disturbance, and allergies that can potentially interfere with a soldier's ability to execute mission critical tasks. Acupuncture can effectively provide military pain management to further improve rehabilitative care of our Wounded Warriors. Treatment for our Wounded WarriorsOur Wounded Warrior Protocol consists of inserting approximately 10 tiny acupuncture needles into strategic points. Most, if not all of the needles will be placed in the outer part of the ear. In many cases immediate pain relief and/or increased range of motion can be achieved. Typically the needles will be retained for about 10 minutes. In some cases studs may be inserted and left in the ear, to be taken out at a later time. Based on your condition our holistic doctors may recommend specific diet, nutrition, supplements, exercise, and/or lifestyle modification. We often teach home-care therapies to friends and family members of soldiers that will speed up recovery time and optimize healing. In most cases we recommend an initial course of treatment (10 treatments) followed by a re-evaluation after the 10 treatment to monitor progress. ALL WOUNDED WARRIOR TREATMENT IS FREE OF CHARGE. We do gratefully accept charitable contributions and/or supplies in order to help cover the cost of medical supplies and operating expenses. All donations are tax deductable.
